Born and raised in Osaka Japan, Teru obtained his BFA in Film & Television with a Cinematography Emphasis from Chapman University. Teru made his debut as an international DP for Strawberry Cliff (2010), which was produced as a U.S/Hong Kong/France co-production. This feature film was also nominated for the “New Currents Award” at the most prestigious film festival in Asia, the Pusan International Film Festival.

He continued his involvement in the international world when he shot a music video for Doda, the top pop artist in Poland. The video, XXX, won “The Music Video of the Year” for the 2012 VIVA Comet Awards, a prestigious accolade in the European music industry. His involvement in the digital world launched his career as a digital DP for one of the most commercially successful Japanese video game franchises of all time, Resident Evil, having specifically worked on Resident Evil 5 and 6. Resident Evil 5, in particular, was the first video game to use a virtual camera that recorded live motion tracking, which was a similar technology used to film James Cameron’s Avatar in 2009.

Currently, he is working on a feature documentary which will air on US networks and continues traveling the world to wherever there is need for his craft.
